In addition several class 47s, class 37s and HST sets have travelled over
the Norton Fitzwarren to Bishops Lydeard section with railtours from
BR/Railtrack.
Since January 1997, the WSR has been cleared for operation of High Speed
Trains over the full length of the line from Norton Fitzwarren to Minehead.
Up to May 1997, three full return trips using Great Western Trains HST
units have taken place (one each way as ECS).
Between March 1997 and June 1998 EWS trains conveying stone from Merehead
or Whatley quarries to Minehead operated regularly over the WSR, bringing
many Class 37s, three Class 33s, and occasional Class 47s to the WSR.
In March 2000 further EWS trains ran conveying stone from Merehead
to Doniford, reversing at Blue Anchor. These trains were scheduled for
Class 66 haulage throughout.

COACHING STOCK
The West Somerset Railway is host to a large and still growing collection
of rolling stock. Passenger services are largely covered by a fleet of BR
Mark I stock from the 1950s era. This is supplemented by a number of diesel
multiple units listed above. Operational passenger stock was formerly painted
in standard WSR chocolate and cream livery with salmon pink lining.
(The style is based on BR standard blue and grey style). More recently this has
changed to gold/black lining as used on BR(WR) chocolate&cream coaches.
